Arno

Mixed Breed · Male

A tiny, older, lost... and very much in need of a human. Arno came to our shelter in early August. He is neglected - his fur is in poor condition, and his skin shows bald patches. He is most likely also blind. We have basic examinations and veterinary visits and grooming appointments ahead. In the shelter, he is still very lost. He doesn't know what to expect from people and is just trying to find his way in a completely new, foreign reality. Despite this, he is gentle. He allows himself to be touched, patiently tolerates contact. Arno is also learning to walk on a leash at the shelter. And although his possibilities are limited, walks clearly give him pleasure. He stops, sniffs, gets to know the world primarily through his nose. It is clear that these short moments outside the shelter box give him something very important - the opportunity to quietly discover his surroundings. We don't yet know how he behaves in direct contact with other dogs. For now, we know one thing: this is a dog who very much needs peace, patience, and his own person. That's why we are already asking for a home for this gentleman. The shelter is not a good place for any dog, but for a dog like Arno, it is particularly difficult. Maybe there is someone out there who is just waiting for him?

About Arno

What life with Arno looks like

Arno is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Arno, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Arno?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Arno on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Arno if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Arno already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Arno isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku early rather than rehoming privately; they know Arno and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
