How do I contact the shelter about Atena?

Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla zwierząt Włocławek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Atena on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.

Can I adopt Atena if I live in another country?

Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla zwierząt Włocławek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.

Is Atena already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?

Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.

What happens if Atena isn't the right fit?

Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla zwierząt Włocławek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Atena and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.

Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?

TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.

Atena - ADOPT THIS EXCEPTIONAL COMPANION! Atena is waiting for her second chance! This beautiful, four-year-old female dog weighing 23 kg is looking for a loving home where she can feel safe. Atena is a fairly large dog who has gone through many difficulties in her life, or at least that is evident from her behavior. At first, she may seem withdrawn and distrustful of both people and other dogs - this is a natural reaction to her past. However, as our observations show, when Atena gets to know you better, you will see her true nature. She becomes gentle, affectionate, and seeks contact with her caregiver. Atena keeps her box clean, can walk on a leash, but can pull - she is a strong girl, so walking on a leash requires refinement. Atena needs a patient caregiver who understands her trauma and is willing to give her time to regain trust, who will work with her consistently, and devote time and attention to her. Atena is looking for a quiet home where she can feel safe, with consistency and love in every step. It's a process, but the result is worth all the effort. If you are ready to give Atena a chance at a happy life and have a lot of heart, come to us. Atena is waiting for you and a new beginning full of love and security. Atena is registered under the number 13395/117/26. She has been vaccinated against rabies and infectious diseases and has been microchipped. She is waiting for a sterilization procedure. For those interested in adoption, please contact us by phone: 530-779-523 or 534 185 616

About Atena

What life with Atena looks like

Atena is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla zwierząt Włocławek in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.
