Atlas

Presa Canario · Male · Puppy

Atlas is a handsome 20-week-old Presa Canario puppy looking for a loving, committed home where he can continue to grow in confidence and enjoy life at his own gentle pace.A relaxed and easy-going boy, Atlas loves lounging in the sunshine and spending time with his canine friends. He currently lives with a Great Dane and enjoys playing and exploring with other dogs. Well socialised from a young age, he has taken many new experiences in his stride.Atlas is affectionate and friendly, but also enjoys his independence. While he likes human company, he's often happiest relaxing in his own space and will seek out affection when it suits him.He is a clever puppy who already knows "sit," "down," "wait" and "leave it." He even uses bells by the back door to let his family know when he wants to go outside—though sometimes he rings them in the hope of earning an extra treat!Atlas regularly accompanies his carer to work, where he enjoys meeting new people and is often praised for his calm, gentle nature. He walks well on lead, travels comfortably in the car, and has enjoyed swimming sessions, as well as spending time around children.Like many puppies, Atlas is still building confidence around busier traffic and will need patient, positive guidance as he matures. He has also reached the typical mouthy puppy stage, but responds well when redirected onto appropriate toys and chews.Full of character, Atlas can be quite vocal and loves being involved in family life. Whether he's excitedly greeting his people, protesting when someone leaves for work, or proudly showing off a stolen shoe, he always brings a smile to those around him.Atlas does have some ongoing medical needs which prospective adopters will need to understand and monitor. We would be happy to discuss these in more detail at the centre.Atlas is a calm, cheeky and wonderfully individual puppy who will thrive with a patient family committed to his continued training, socialisation and care. In return, he will offer loyalty, companionship and plenty of personality.

About Atlas

What life with Atlas looks like

Atlas is a puppy/kitten presa canario dog waiting at RSPCA Cornwall Branch in Saint Columb.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Atlas, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Atlas?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Cornwall Branch handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Atlas on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Atlas if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Cornwall Branch will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Atlas already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Atlas isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Cornwall Branch early rather than rehoming privately; they know Atlas and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
