Bambi

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Male · Young · 2 years

Bambi is a very easy-going boy. He is relaxed, but also very happy when he sees people. Sometimes his enthusiasm can be a bit too much for his body. When I first arrived at DOA, I was already jumping up on my hind legs as soon as I saw someone. And sometimes... well, then I suddenly turn into a real deer and jump into the air with all four legs. When I arrived at DOA, everything was pretty scary at first. But fortunately, that didn't last long. I quickly discovered that people here are kind to me and that I really enjoy getting attention. I love cuddling. If you are happy to see me, I am at least three times happier to see you! My previous owner couldn't take care of me anymore and couldn't give me a safe roof over my head. That's sad, but I want to tell you that I was always well cared for. I never had anything to complain about. Sometimes things in life just don't go as you'd like. And now I hope for a new place where I can be myself again. I don't need much to be happy. A person who is happy when I'm there, good food from time to time, and of course... a ball! I'm really fond of that. You don't have to throw it endlessly for me. One throw is enough for me. Then I can run around with it for twenty rounds on my own. Why wait for you to throw it again? I'll entertain myself! I love playing. With a ball, with a stuffed animal, and sometimes with your hands... oopsie! Fortunately, I don't do that on purpose and not hard. I'm just a bit too enthusiastic sometimes and I like to be busy together. I'm just a happy, sweet boy who doesn't ask for much. A nice place, a person who enjoys me, some attention, food, coziness, and of course some playtime. That makes me very happy.

About Bambi

What life with Bambi looks like

Bambi is a young adult staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam in Amsterdam.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bambi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bambi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bambi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bambi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bambi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bambi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bambi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
