How much bad luck can a dog have in its lifetime... Sweet Sky came to us years ago and has spent over five years in our shelter throughout her entire life. In the previous period, she was briefly rehomed once, but unfortunately had to return after a biting incident with another dog. Following this incident, Sky was required by the municipality to wear a muzzle. Three years ago, we finally found someone who was open to adopting Sky. Fortunately, this person managed to slip right through her muzzle and was eager to see just how much love Sky has to offer people. Unfortunately, this lady can no longer care for her, and Sky is once again back at our shelter. This is really hard for her! She simply doesn’t understand what’s going on. The tiled walls and concrete floor make her feel sad. Of course, during the hours we’re here, we try our best to spend as much time as possible with her—and thankfully, she does find some joy in these moments. But as soon as it’s time to head back to her kennel, she immediately drops her head and looks dejected. To people, Sky is truly the sweetest dog ever! She loves nothing more than going for walks, playing, and cuddling. Despite being well over 10 years old now, she still has plenty of energy, and you’d never guess her age from looking at her. For Sky, we’re looking for someone who will be very consistent about enforcing her muzzle requirement. Sky must absolutely not leave the property without her muzzle on. It’s therefore crucial that there’s no way she could escape from her new home—she must never, under any circumstances, end up on the street without her muzzle. A well-fenced garden with a high, sturdy fence is thus an absolute must, and she mustn’t be able to sneak outside unnoticed. When walking, Sky is perfectly capable of ignoring other dogs. So taking a brisk walk with her isn’t a punishment at all! The only way to walk her is on a leash, though, because Sky reacts poorly to other dogs when off-leash. She has no boundaries and will immediately go on the attack if confronted. Luckily, Sky herself has no problem staying on a leash at all. She walks beautifully and calmly by your side on the leash and has absolutely no trouble wearing her muzzle. We sincerely hope that we’ll soon find that one perfect match for our sweet Sky and that she’ll get to spend her final years happily at someone’s home. Hoeveel pech kun je als hond hebben in je leven… Lieve Sky is jaren geleden bij ons binnengekomen en heeft in haar hele leven al ruim 5 jaar in onze opvang doorgebracht. Ze is in de voorgaande periode éénmaal kort herplaatst geweest maar na een bijtincident met een andere hond helaas toch weer teruggekomen. Na dit bijtincident heeft Sky een muilkorfplicht opgelegd gekregen vanuit de gemeente. Drie jaar geleden vonden we eindelijk iemand die open stond voor de adoptie van Sky. Deze persoon prikte gelukkig door haar korfje heen en stond open om te zien hoe ontzettend veel liefde Sky te bieden heeft voor mensen. Helaas kan deze mevrouw nu niet meer voor haar zorgen en zit Sky opnieuw bij ons in het asiel. Dit valt haar heel zwaar! Ze snapt er helemaal niets van. De betegelde muren en de betonnen vloer maken haar verdrietig. Natuurlijk proberen we hier in de uren dat we aanwezig zijn zo veel mogelijk met haar te ondernemen en daar haalt ze gelukkig wel voldoening uit maar zou gauw we weer richting haar kenneltje gaan, laat ze haar koppie weer hangen. Voor mensen is Sky echt de allerliefste hond! Ze wil heel graag wandelen, spelen en knuffelen. Ondanks dat ze ondertussen al ruim 10 jaar oud is, heeft ze echt nog volop energie en merk je tot dusver nog helemaal niets van haar leeftijd. Voor Sky zijn we op zoek naar iemand die heel consequent omgaat met haar korfplicht. Sky mag absoluut niet zonder muilkorf van eigen terrein af. Het is dus belangrijk dat er geen mogelijkheid is voor haar om in haar nieuwe huisje te kunnen ontsnappen want ze mag in geen enkel geval zonder korf op straat terecht komen. Een goed afgezette tuin met een hoge en stevige omheining is dus echt een vereiste en ze mag niet mee naar buiten kunnen glippen. Tijdens het wandelen kan Sky andere honden heel goed negeren. Het is dus geen straf om een stevige wandeling met haar te maken! Dit kan alleen aangelijnd want Sky reageert los niet goed op andere honden. Ze heeft geen grenzen en gaat bij een confrontatie direct in de aanval. Gelukkig heeft Sky zelf geen enkel probleem met het aangelijnd moeten blijven. Ze loopt heel fijn en rustig mee naast je aan de riem en heeft zelf helemaal geen moeite met haar korfje. Wij hopen heel erg dat we die ene perfecte match nog vinden voor onze lieve Sky en ze haar laatste jaren hopelijk nog lekker bij iemand thuis mag doorbrengen.
