Baron

Male · Adult · 5 years

Baron, a large TTB-type dog, is currently seeking a temporary home due to ongoing proceedings. He has a lot of energy but does not use his strength to exert it. Baron is friendly, outgoing, and loves water. He may pull harder on walks at first, but he calms down quickly and can walk nicely on a leash. He responds well to his owner and stays in touch with them on walks, making cooperation with him enjoyable with proper guidance. Baron loves water, so it's a good idea to provide him with access to it, but also to moderate this activity to avoid over-stimulation. There have been instances where he refused to leave the water. Baron enjoys human closeness - he likes to cuddle and during walks or rest, he likes to sit by his owner and quietly observe his surroundings. His behavior towards other dogs is currently unknown. Baron needs a conscious owner who understands the specifics of TTB-type dogs. He is not a dog for someone who tries to build a relationship through dominance or aversive methods. He needs a calm, consistent, and firm owner who is also patient and understanding, and who can set clear boundaries without unnecessary pressure. With proper guidance, Baron shows that he can cooperate, let go of emotions, and enjoy being close to humans. This is a dog with whom, with a conscious approach, you can build a great relationship based on mutual trust and cooperation.

PL·Show original

About Baron

What life with Baron looks like

Baron is a large adult dog waiting at Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu in Poznan.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Baron, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Baron?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Baron on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Baron if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Baron already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Baron isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Baron and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
