Adopt Baron von Kläff

Maltese · Male · Adult · 7 years

The small Maltese male dog Baron came to us at our shelter because the health conditions in his family have changed, and he can no longer be cared for properly. At the moment, Baron is still quite stressed with us. The new environment, with all the impressions and smells, is challenging for him, making it difficult for him to settle down. This is evident in his frequent howling or barking. However, we are convinced that this behavior will significantly improve in a suitable, calm home once he receives security and structure. Outside, he shows a completely different side: Baron is attentive, curious, and very much on the go. He clearly enjoys walks and explores his surroundings with great interest. He handles encounters with other dogs confidently, remaining calm, not barking, and being able to pass by them without any problems. Baron shows himself to us as a friendly, lovable fellow who enjoys meeting new people. For Baron, we wish to find a quiet home with patient and sensitive people who will give him the time to settle in and help him find security again. A regulated daily routine, clear structures, and loving affection will greatly assist him in relaxing and showing his full potential as a loyal companion.

About Baron von Kläff

What life with Baron von Kläff looks like

Baron von Kläff is a adult maltese cat waiting at Zürcher Tierschutz in Zürich.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Baron von Kläff, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Baron von Kläff?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Zürcher Tierschutz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Baron von Kläff on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Baron von Kläff if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Zürcher Tierschutz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Baron von Kläff already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Baron von Kläff isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Zürcher Tierschutz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Baron von Kläff and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
