Becky

European Shorthair · Female

Hallo and a frightened meow, dear humans. I am Becky, a 2-year-old tabby cat. I too was found outside and was very lucky, because if everyone had looked away, I would have died a painful death... Why? I had a painful femoral neck fracture, a bad bite wound and, on top of everything, a throbbing abscess. I could hardly stand on my legs - everything hurt. Mijaujaujau! The doc put his hands over his head and did his best. Nevertheless, my one hind leg could not be saved. Now it is gone. But we cats don't cry for what was - we look forward to what comes. And that means for me: I have no more pain. And I can still jump like a normal cat - even up to my high scratching post. I just get along well with my three legs. Meow! Nevertheless, I have to admit that the animal shelter is not really for me. I don't like being here. Initially, I was even really mean to my staff and growled at everyone and kept my distance. That has given up now, I also come out of my cave and don't hide all the time. Well... I'm not a cuddly cat for a long time. But who knows how it will be in a new home? And that's what I'm looking for now. Of course, I would love to have outdoor access again, but that won't be easy, because I don't like other cats and I was tested positive for Corona, which can only be contagious to other cats. So secure outdoor access would be good for me - that could be a nicely netted terrace, a fenced garden or a large balcony. For that I urgently need calm, understanding people who let me come in my own pace and who don't necessarily want a cuddly cat. Because whether I ever become one... I don't promise anything today. Meow! Oh - adolescent children could also please me, if they don't want to constantly stroke me, hehe!

DE·Show original

About Becky

What life with Becky looks like

Becky is a large adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim Uhlenkrog Kiel in Kiel.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Becky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Becky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Uhlenkrog Kiel handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Becky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Becky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Uhlenkrog Kiel will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Becky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Becky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Uhlenkrog Kiel early rather than rehoming privately; they know Becky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
