Adopt Benjamin

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 7 months

♂, born ca. 10/2025 puppy type - friendly - social Benjamin is a ca. 10/2025 born mixed-breed male dog with a current shoulder height of 38 cm. He is expected to be medium-sized. Benjamin was found alone with his siblings in a kennel. As no trace of the mother was found nearby, our animal protection colleague took them in. Given how small and far too young they were, they would not have survived the cold for much longer. They would have frozen or been eaten. The animal rescuer suspects that the mother was poisoned, as many mother animals fall victim to extra-laid-out poison. Benjamin is an absolute sunbeam, puppy-like playful and curious, he explores with his siblings the small run, takes a deep breath of fresh air, and is happy to be alive. Benjamin is a very social male dog who would like to be part of a household where he can learn to get along with other puppies, where Benjamin can orient himself. People should approach dog training with patience and empathy, because he has not yet heard of the dog training basics, house training, being left alone, or walking on a leash. People who support Benjamin, give him the love and affection a young dog needs. Then Benjamin will develop into a wonderful lifelong friend and share all the fun. Benjamin would like to come to work, because who wants to be alone all day... not Benjamin either. Who has an empty dog bed and wants to give Benjamin a wonderful dog life?! Benjamin is vaccinated and microchipped and ready for rehoming. He is still too young for the Snap 4-D test and castration. He is located at the gates of Sofia/Bulgaria. The adoption fee for Benjamin is 480 Euro. Do you have a suitable home for Benjamin? Then please contact us via the following contact form. ©2022 by Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. Created with Wix.

About Benjamin

What life with Benjamin looks like

Benjamin is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. in Berlin.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Benjamin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Benjamin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Benjamin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Benjamin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Benjamin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Benjamin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Benjamin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
