Benji

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Benji, a loyal companion, was found alone on the street and brought to our Hungarian partner animal shelter for safe keeping. He came to us hoping to find a loving home quickly. Benji is a very sweet, affectionate, and friendly little dog who initially appears shy and a bit suspicious. However, a few kind words are enough to break the ice. Once he realizes you mean well, he makes friends and wants to be constantly petted and cuddled. He has the potential to become a loyal shadow, following his owner everywhere. Currently, he is diligently practicing walking on a leash. For the little Benji, we are looking for a considerate home, ideally without young children. The handsome dog is, of course, neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, examined by a veterinarian, and has an EU pet passport. He will be transferred with a contract only to loving hands. The handover could take place in Berlin or alternatively in the Stuttgart area, provided someone falls in love with him and wants to give him a forever home. For this dream dog, a new home or an alternative foster home is urgently needed, unless a home is found by the next transport. As always, we point out that a dog from foreign animal protection needs time, patience, and a loving arrival. New impressions, new routines, and new bonds should be able to grow in peace. Those willing to take this journey together will be rewarded with a very special deep connection. If you are interested in adoption or for more information, please send us a message.

About Benji

What life with Benji looks like

Benji is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen in Ketzin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Benji, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Benji?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Benji on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Benji if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Benji already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Benji isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Benji and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
