adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Betty has found her home! Her story: Cluj, Romania. The lovely Betty is waiting for the person who will take her by the paw and lead her into a new life! Betty was abandoned in the middle of nowhere. In the middle of winter – half frozen. It was discovered that she had an owner, but he kept her most of the time in a box. Betty is now about 1 year old and has not yet had the chance to experience what a beautiful life is like. Constantly in fear and afraid for her own life. She is desperately in need of a compassionate home or foster home that will pave the way for a new life for her! Betty is about 50 cm tall and weighs around 15 – 20 kg. She gets along well with other dogs, so a confident only dog would be a great addition for her. We wish for Betty a quiet and stable home, without many changing trusted people and one that is rural. Betty needs time to settle in and therefore seeks a home with people who have a lot of time for her and can offer her the understanding that she has missed her whole life. Betty does not yet know how beautiful life is. She does not know what it feels like to be loved and cared for. She has to learn everything and at the same time forget what used to be. But certainly, wounds on the soul will remain that need to be healed. Due to Betty's vision, we cannot rule out fur or heat protection genes. A home with a garden would be lovely for her, and she should not be planned for office transport. Our Betty is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea treated. She brings her EU pet passport with her and can be transported after a positive assessment. Also, an experienced foster home would be a great stepping stone for the beautiful female dog! Who will take Betty's hand and take her by the paw? Many thanks Sandra S.! You have given Betty her name!

Vielen Dank Sandra S.! Du hast Betty ihren Namen geschenkt!

About Betty

What life with Betty looks like

Betty is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Betty, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Betty?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Betty on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Betty if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Betty already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Betty isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Betty and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
