Bianchino

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 11 years

23-11-2015 - Unfortunately today we had to operate on Bianchino, an intervention that was planned in advance but it was useless to wait. We kept postponing, we don't have the means to face every emergency that comes our way but postponing would have meant higher costs and serious damage for Bianchino. When this type of tumor appears, there is no cure. Today Bianchino was operated on for bilateral mastectomy to remove the squamous cell carcinoma, very common in white cats due to ultraviolet rays. It is essential to act quickly to prevent the tumor from spreading beyond the base of the ear, which would make it inoperable. He is now hospitalized in the clinic. Thank you to those who can help us support the expenses, as always we can cover them only with donations. We do not have public aid and with a shelter like ours it is even more difficult to face.

E' tutto'ora ricoverato in clinica. Grazie a chi potrà aiutarci per sostenere le spese che come sempre riusciamo a coprire solo con donazioni. Non abbiamo aiuti pubblici e con un rifugio come il nostro sono ancor piu' difficili d'affrontare.

About Bianchino

What life with Bianchino looks like

Bianchino is a senior mixed breed cat waiting at L.I.D.A. Olbia in Olbia.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bianchino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bianchino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. L.I.D.A. Olbia handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bianchino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bianchino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — L.I.D.A. Olbia will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bianchino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bianchino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with L.I.D.A. Olbia early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bianchino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
