adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Bilbo with his pleading look and those large, longing eyes is one of the dogs you won't forget once you've seen them. He was left alone in a forest after being injured in a car accident, exhausted and without help. Fortunately, he was found in time and received medical care. Today, he is fully recovered and ready for a new life. Despite everything he has experienced, Bilbo is a friendly, gentle, and people-oriented young dog. He actively seeks proximity, enjoys affection, and shows this slightly wobbly, affectionate behavior that makes him immediately likable. He is playful, cuddly, and simply wants to belong. He also shows friendliness and social behavior towards other dogs. Unfortunately, we cannot say anything about his compatibility with cats. Due to his appearance, we cannot rule out herding dog genes. Therefore, he would prefer a rural home and ideally people who already have experience with these breed characteristics. Bilbo is in the middle of growing up and, accordingly, still needs orientation, patience, and loving consistency. With clear leadership, positive training, and shared activities, he will develop into a wonderful companion. Bilbo travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with an EU pet passport. If you would like to show Bilbo that his longing look will finally be answered and give him a life full of security and affection, a big thank you goes to Bine! You not only gave Bilbo an identity with his name but also the chance at a new life! This dog will be rehomed together with the organization Arme Hundeseelen Rumänien. The double posting on both organization sides and possibly on advertising portals serves to increase his visibility and find the right home for him more quickly. With the organization, there is a close exchange. Every inquiry for the dog is discussed directly and passed on. As of: 09.12.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 09.12.2025

About Bilbo

What life with Bilbo looks like

Bilbo is a extra-large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bilbo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bilbo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bilbo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bilbo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bilbo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bilbo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bilbo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
