Bon Bon

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Β· Male Β· Adult Β· 4 years

BonBon is a timid lad who finds himself away from everything that is familiar to him. He has come from a multi dog household and isn't used to being walked on a lead, so he's had a lot to get used to. He needed a full groom when he came to us and he tolerated it but it clearly wasn't his favourite thing. BonBon is a nervous boy but he is getting more brave as each day passes. He isn't bothered about the noise of the train track, nor cars going by, but he is concerned about the movement of traffic, so he'd benefit from being walked in quiet areas. His previous owner told us that BonBon does enjoy ball games but we haven't yet seem him play at the centre, so hopefully he will pick this up again when settled in his new home. Bon likes slow introductions to new people and we would advise his adopters not to have any visitors for the first few weeks in order to give him time to settle and feel confident. He's great with other dogs and would benefit from having the canine company that he's been used to. BonBon can live with other small, quiet dogs and also cats. Any children in the home must be older secondary age, due to his nervousness. In his previous home, BonBon used puppy pads so there may be some work to do with house training, and also a gradual build up of any time he spends alone. He will need a few visits paying to him at the centre before going home.

About Bon Bon

What life with Bon Bon looks like

Bon Bon is a small adult cavalier king charles spaniel dog waiting at Dogs Trust Merseyside in Liverpool.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bon Bon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bon Bon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Merseyside handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bon Bon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bon Bon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Dogs Trust Merseyside will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Bon Bon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bon Bon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Merseyside early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bon Bon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
