Bonnie

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Bonnie was born around 01/2026 and is currently (as of August 1st) about 40 cm tall and weighs roughly 13 kg. Her story begins with a shock: Bonnie was one of twelve puppies abandoned in a river in icy, wet weather, left to die with no chance at all. Sadly, four of her siblings did not survive these cruel circumstances. That Bonnie and the others are still here today is solely thanks to dedicated animal rescuers who were in the right place at the right time. In the first weeks after their rescue, the siblings lived in a private foster home in Romania (not in a house, but they had regular contact with people and enjoyed every single one of those encounters). Because private foster homes in Romania also cost money, the siblings were moved a few weeks ago, for cost reasons, to the mini-shelter of an animal rescuer. Bonnie is a carefree, cheerful girl. She explores her surroundings with curiosity, approaches people openly and trustingly, and lives life to the fullest. She gets along very well with her siblings and other dogs and loves playing with them. Bonnie has already been through the worst – now she deserves only the best. Two of her siblings were already lucky enough to find a lovely home, and we hope that Bonnie and her 5 remaining siblings will soon be discovered by kind people. Who can take in the lovely Bonnie with the pretty eyes, teach her everything young dogs need to learn, and stand by her through thick and thin? We look forward to your inquiries! She has been examined by a veterinarian, dewormed, treated for fleas, microchipped, vaccinated, and tested for Mediterranean diseases including leishmaniasis, and she has an EU pet passport and TRACES certification. She is still too young to be neutered. The adoption fee is €595.

DE·Show original

About Bonnie

What life with Bonnie looks like

Bonnie is a very small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierrettung International e.V. in Germany.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bonnie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bonnie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierrettung International e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bonnie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bonnie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierrettung International e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Bonnie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bonnie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierrettung International e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bonnie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
