adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Bonsi can stay forever in his foster home! His story: Bonsi and his siblings Winja, Zippi, Annegret, Bazil, and Zoe were found on the street with their mother, just two months old. Near the Bistrita train station, the owner of a nearby house observed the litter of puppies and their mother until one day he heard the puppies whining and barking, left alone. We suspect that the mother was tragically killed by a train or something similar, leaving the puppies vulnerable. The Romanian finder could not locate the mother anywhere and brought the defenseless puppies to the shelter in Bistrita. Bonsi is a true dream dog. He meets both his fellow animals and humans with friendliness and openness, exuding boundless joy. Even to cuddles, he says no. He would definitely be happy with a new animal friend in his new home. Unfortunately, a compatibility test with other cats could not be conducted. Bonsi is a male dog with light brown fur marked with black spots. Additionally, he looks into the camera with a friendly and trusting gaze. Who could resist him? Just like his siblings, Bonsi was born without a tail. Due to the missing tail, he cannot be rehomed to Switzerland. His new family should be aware that Bonsi has not yet experienced life in a loving family. He still needs to learn the whole puppy ABC and is about to go through puberty. Here, he needs people who can approach him with love and patience, possibly also attend some positive dog training classes with him, and forgive him for any mishaps. Leash walking, house training, and being left alone are still foreign concepts to him. During puberty, he will likely test boundaries and perhaps forget some things he has learned. But once this phase is overcome, Bonsi will definitely make a great lifelong partner. We hope so much that he can now experience the beautiful sides of life and learn that there are people who only want the best for him. Bonsi is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He brings an EU pet passport and can be rehomed after a positive foster home trial. We would be very happy to have a foster home for the sweet boy! Who will give him a loving forever home? Many thanks to Nici! You gave Bonsi his name. A big thank you also goes to Julia S., who has taken on a monthly sponsorship for Bonsi. As of: 16.01.

Vielen Dank an Nici! Stand: 16.01.2025

About Bonsi

What life with Bonsi looks like

Bonsi is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bonsi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bonsi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bonsi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bonsi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bonsi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bonsi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bonsi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
