Adopt Boo

Labrador Retriever · Female · Adult · 5 years

Sweet, affectionate and wonderfully gentle, Boo is the kind of dog who quickly finds her way into your heart. She adores fuss and cuddles, often leaning into you for affection before lying down with her head resting on your knee. When she's not soaking up attention, you'll find her enjoying one of her favourite activities, such as swimming in the sea or splashing through a river, something that brings out her joyful side. She walks very nicely on lead, occasionally enjoys a game of ball when invited and absolutely loves being wrapped up and towel dried! For someone looking for a loyal, loving companion to share countryside walks, seaside trips and cosy evenings on the sofa, Boo could be the perfect match. Please note: If you already have an open adoption application and are interested in knowing if Boo is a match, please let us know you are interested in her by emailing us on . Appointment slots are available everyday from 11. Beautiful Boo is a 5-year-old Retriever x Spaniel with a gentle soul and a love of the great outdoors. She is searching for an active home with adopters who can provide her with regular walks, plenty of opportunities to explore and ideally a garden or easy access to a grassy area for toilet breaks. Boo is happy living in anything from the outskirts of a city to a quieter residential area, provided she has access to calmer walking routes where she can avoid things she finds worrying, such as cyclists, joggers and motorbikes. She can have canine friends for walks and adventures, although she can be selective about which dogs she enjoys spending time with. Boo is used to living with primary school aged children, is happy around visitors once she has had time to settle, and travels brilliantly in the car, making her a wonderful companion for days out and longer adventures. As with many dogs, she will need any time left alone to be built up gradually as she settles into the home.

About Boo

What life with Boo looks like

Boo is a adult labrador retriever dog waiting at Dogs Trust Shoreham in Shoreham by Sea.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Boo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Boo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Shoreham handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Boo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Boo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Shoreham will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Boo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Boo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Shoreham early rather than rehoming privately; they know Boo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
