BORIS

Male · Adult · 8 years

Estimated birth date: January 2018 Brief description: friendly, affectionate, cuddly, attentive, curious, family+, male+, female+ Boris, estimated to have been born in January 2018, was discovered alone on the street in early February 2026. He was readily secured by the animal shelter staff who were called to the scene and brought to the dog station. Boris is a friendly, affectionate, and very cuddly male. He is initially cautious and reserved around strangers, but quickly warms up to them. In the video, he is seen with a young woman who is a stranger to him. Boris walks well on a leash, and it almost seems as if he knows or has learned how to do so. He is also very attentive and responds well to conversation. He enjoys being petted at all times. He has everything he needs to develop into a pleasant companion with the right training. He is also well-suited with his own kind and is not particularly interested in them, neither on a leash outside nor in free play. The handsome Boris would be ideal for Rottweiler fans who are looking for a dog from a shelter and not from a breeder. We cannot say for sure if Boris is purebred, but there is certainly a high Rotti component in him. Therefore, the wonderful dog needs people who can lead him confidently, but also give him the love he so desperately craves. Boris is castrated, chipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and has an EU pet passport. He is ready to move to his new home. Do you think you can offer this lovable guy a suitable home? Then we look forward to your message! You can use the self-assessment (or the contact form) to get started.

About BORIS

What life with BORIS looks like

BORIS is a small adult dog waiting at Pfotenretter Ungarn in Pfotenretter.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting BORIS, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about BORIS?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pfotenretter Ungarn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw BORIS on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt BORIS if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pfotenretter Ungarn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is BORIS already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if BORIS isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pfotenretter Ungarn early rather than rehoming privately; they know BORIS and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
