Boxer - EKH

European Shorthair · Male · Adult · 9 years

Born: approx. 2017 at the animal shelter since: 14.10.2025 male, neutered Update June 2026: We gave Boxer a chance to stay with us and added him to our other farm cats, as it was impossible for him to reach them in the cat house. We could neither touch him nor walk past his scratching post without being noticed. After some time, Boxer suddenly changed his mind. We heard his calls and screams and he suddenly wanted to be near humans. He let himself be stroked and no longer shied away from our side. Boxer was somehow happy to have his freedom, but he also wanted contact with people and other cats. However, he did not want to go inside the house. Boxer was happy and sad at the same time. Unfortunately, it became too dangerous in the yard because he does not know any dangers and is not afraid of anything. If dogs clearly signal that he should keep his distance, he ignores them. He also has no fear of cars when Boxer lies on the parking lot, he lies on the parking lot. Even with horses, he knows no distance and walks around the horses. Unfortunately, Boxer suffered quite severely from loneliness when we did not find him or there was no other cat nearby and screamed his heart out. So we took him back to the cat house in his old room with a heavy heart. After a short time of sulking, he likes us again now and we are looking for a new, final home forever for this special tomcat. This should offer outdoor access, at least social other cats, also dogs and people who have plenty of time and are not often away. In addition, he should always have the opportunity to leave the house if he wants to. A cat flap could certainly be accustomed to him. Boxer came as a found animal from Dornwang to us. He was in no good condition when he arrived, suffered from severe cat flu and needed dental treatment. After a long time in quarantine, the treatment of his dental problems, neutering and significant relief of his cold, he was allowed to move into the placement area. Boxer gets along well with other cats. He is still reserved towards humans. This is understandable after the stress he has experienced. He needs time and a lot of patience to recover fully. We are looking for a home with secure outdoor access for Boxer with loving people. These should give him the time to settle in and accept him as he is. His new owners should be willing to accept veterinary treatments in the future, as his cold can flare up again. Larger children fit better to him. We could also imagine an "release place" for Boxer, where he can decide for himself whether and how much contact he wants with people.

About Boxer - EKH

What life with Boxer - EKH looks like

Boxer - EKH is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Dingolfing-Landau e.V. / Tierheim Quellenhof Passbrunn in Dingolfing.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

Frequently asked

Adopting Boxer - EKH, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Boxer - EKH?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Dingolfing-Landau e.V. / Tierheim Quellenhof Passbrunn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Boxer - EKH on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Boxer - EKH if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Dingolfing-Landau e.V. / Tierheim Quellenhof Passbrunn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Boxer - EKH already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Boxer - EKH isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Dingolfing-Landau e.V. / Tierheim Quellenhof Passbrunn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Boxer - EKH and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
