Adopt Braun

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

♂, born ca. 8/2019-menschenbezogen-unsicher-liebin Braun is a ca. 8/2019 born German Shepherd-Mix-male dog with a shoulder height of ca. 66 cm. In mid-May '20, Braun was found at the age of about 10 months. He initially came to a foster home but has been in the animal shelter since July '20. Braun is still young but has become more calm. However, in his previous life, he has not or only little been socialized. Braun is still in his mind a puppy, runs, plays, and gets very engaged in the sand, and loves to play with fellow animals. Therefore, a social-only dog can be present in his new home, where he can orient himself in the world outside of shelter life. This makes him very insecure, as soon as he gets a collar and/or a leash, he falls into a kind of "shock state" and lies submissively on the ground. A lot of training and practice... Ball games in his run are really great for him. Braun is very active and needs both physical and mental stimulation. Sniffing games or sniffing tasks are fun and challenging for him, and he is fully concentrated. The great Braun will only be rehomed with a family connection, as he has no problem with children. Ideally, he would be in a house with a garden. Braun cannot be moved to the city due to his great insecurity and will not be placed in an object-, guard-, or personal protection role, nor in kennel holding. Who will give the great male dog with his dog experience, patience, calmness, and positive consequences the chance for a "normal" dog life outside of shelter life? The great dog man needs a lot of trust and is not a beginner dog! Braun will be neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested for Mediterranean diseases before rehoming. He is located in the animal shelter of Manzanares/Spain. The adoption fee for Braun is 460 Euro. Would you like to give Braun a home? About Braun

What life with Braun looks like

Braun is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. in Berlin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Braun, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Braun?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Braun on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Braun if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Braun already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Braun isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Braun and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
