Briana &#8211

Mixed Breed · Unknown

When Briana met the animal welfare workers from Linares, our friends were deeply saddened by the condition of the actually very beautiful white Podenco lady with the funny silver gaze. Emaciated, covered in parasites, marked by untreated leishmaniasis and with the typical cough of dogs suffering from heartworms, the disturbed and frightened girl was crouched in the corner of a cage. Bad enough that Briana had to suffer like this, but the two-year-old dog was not alone; she was brought in along with several other former hunting dogs. A young man had found the animals, condemned to starve, in an abandoned farmhouse. Now begins a new life for these poor souls—and we hope that Briana is among those who will soon find out what it's like to live as a beloved and spoiled family dog. Briana is currently being treated for her leishmaniasis and filariasis, which can be quite difficult for a dog not accustomed to human contact. But our snowflake is very brave and becomes more open and grateful every day for any kind of affection. She clearly enjoys the regular meals, and as the pain decreases and the constant itching on her sensitive light skin subsides, Briana calms down significantly. Generally, the friendly eared animal is rather a quiet and attentive observer. Briana gets along well with other dogs, and we are sure that as she recovers, she will have more and more fun playing and running around. We are looking for a home for Briana with people who have plenty of time to allow her to understand her new environment, who can accept that her new family member won't cuddle from the very first moment, and who have the ability to create a safe place for Briana. For example, a secure garden where the little Mimose can explore her world undisturbed before she is ready to face the neighborhood... If you have enough patience, love, and space for a dog like Briana, please give her, or one of our other timid ones who particularly need understanding people, a chance. Briana is a young dog who will surely learn a lot more and can soon be a really great friend to her new best friends—but for that, she must be allowed to leave behind the world of bars and concrete floors.

About Briana &#8211

What life with Briana &#8211 looks like

Briana &#8211 is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Briana &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Briana &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Briana &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Briana &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Briana &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Briana &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Briana &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
