Brita

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy

8/9/2026: Brita is a friendly and affectionate girl who enjoys attention. She has a slightly sensitive personality. Brita is not shy, but may get a bit anxious with sudden loud noises or get lost in the midst of more energetic dog friends. While at HESY, Brita has been clingy when left alone and has shown mild separation anxiety. It is therefore important that the new home takes this into account and also takes care of any signs of separation anxiety if they appear. In addition to human companionship, Brita gets along well with other dogs, and a new home could find her a small, neutered male dog as a companion. For Brita, the company of another dog has greatly eased her alone time. On a leash, Brita has learned to walk nicely and does not react much to other dogs. She is a bit picky, but can be motivated with good treats. Because loud noises make Brita a bit anxious, the hectic and stressful daily life of a young family is probably too much for her. Brita has a neutral attitude towards cats.

FI·Show original

Kissoihin Brita on suhtautunut melko neutraalisti.

About Brita

What life with Brita looks like

Brita is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at HESY in Helsinki.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇫🇮Adopting from Finland

Finnish shelters require a home visit and an adoption contract. Animals are vetted; the EU pet passport covers cross-border travel within the bloc.

Frequently asked

Adopting Brita, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Brita?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. HESY handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Brita on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Brita if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — HESY will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Brita already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Brita isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with HESY early rather than rehoming privately; they know Brita and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FI). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
