Bruce

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

I’m a Bulldog x Shih Tzu gentleman who’s looking for a special forever home where I can enjoy life at my own pace. I’ve been through a bit of grief recently, so I’m hoping to find a calm, understanding family who will give me the time and space I need to settle in and feel secure again. I’m a laid-back sort of chap and prefer a quieter lifestyle. I’m not one for rushing around or causing a fuss – I like to take things as they come and enjoy life on my own terms. Once I feel comfortable, you’ll find me to be a lovely companion who enjoys being close to his people and soaking up all the attention. I could live with children aged 11 and over who understand my boundaries and respect when I need a little peace and quiet. I’m happy to share my home with sensible youngsters who will let me settle in at my own pace. I’d love a secure garden with 4ft fencing where I can have a gentle potter, enjoy some fresh air, and take in the sights and smells around me. I’m not asking for much – just a safe little space to call my own. When it comes to other dogs, I generally prefer to avoid them and do my own thing. That said, I may enjoy the company of a calm and respectful dog walking friend from time to time. In my home, however, I’d really like to be the only pet so I can enjoy all the love and attention for myself. Once I’ve settled into my new routine, I can be left for around two hours and may be able to manage a little longer in time, provided this is built up gradually and carefully. If you’re looking for a gentle, easy-going companion who will appreciate a quiet life and a loving home, I might just be the perfect match. All I ask is for a little patience, understanding, and a comfy spot to relax beside you.

About Bruce

What life with Bruce looks like

Bruce is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Jerry Green Dog Rescue in Lincoln.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bruce, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bruce?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Jerry Green Dog Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bruce on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bruce if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Jerry Green Dog Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bruce already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bruce isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Jerry Green Dog Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bruce and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
