Bruce

Poodle · Male · Adult · 6 years

Bruce is a handsome chap who is looking for a quieter home where he can come round at his own pace, and not be bothered by too many visitors. He is a cuddly, loving boy once he gets to know you but does want fuss on his own terms. He is happy to be left for up to 4 hours and is fully house-trained. He can be fussy with his food, preferring fishy treats but loves his toys and shows no signs of guarding which is great! We can't wait to see him living it up with his forever people. Meet handsome boy, Bruce! Bruce is a 6.5-year old Labradoodle looking for a special home. Bruce is able to live with another dog, that is calm and able to give him space as he isn't the most playful. Any children in the home will need to be sensible, older secondary school aged as he can be worried by new people and visitors in the home. Bruce is a loving, playful and cheeky boy who, with a bit of patience, will be your best bud! He has been polite and friendly with other dogs here, but would prefer a more laidback dog to live in the home with him. Bruce would like a patient family that are willing to give him his space when he needs it and not crowd him for fuss. He can be unsure with new people, but soon comes around if given the time to. Bruce is a high energy dog, who is looking for a family to take him on fun walks and adventures. He can be a bit restless in the car, but once out and about, he walks well on lead! We can't wait to see this handsome lad find his forever home!

About Bruce

What life with Bruce looks like

Bruce is a adult poodle dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bruce, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bruce?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bruce on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bruce if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bruce already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bruce isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bruce and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
