Bruno

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

" The Ratonero Bodeguero Andaluz is a very active and cheerful terrier. He is considered eager to learn and intelligent and can become very attached to his humans with good care. The Ratonero Bodeguero Andaluz is very energetic and accordingly needs a lot of movement and attention, otherwise his energy will quickly become a problem," claims the internet. In most cases, this description is to a large extent correct, but Bruno apparently has no access to this information. Bruno is a very relaxed terrier - and that actually sounds like a paradox, but the handsome male dog just prefers to lie on his back in the garden and let the sun shine on his belly rather than chasing a ball or drawing the neighbor's attention to the fact that he isn't allowed to hang out laundry without being asked. Bruno is about 3 years old (as of 09/2023). The lovable gentleman was taken in by our friends from Dolmen Animal in July 2023. The police had informed the animal welfare workers about the sad tramp who was walking alone through the city. After the gentle male dog was in the animal shelter, they tried to find an owner, but Bruno is not tattooed, he had no chip and was not reported missing at the nearby police stations and shelters. Therefore, the suspicion that the friendly tramp was abandoned is very high. Bruno is looking for a home that gets along well with his calm nature. Perhaps he will discover his love for ball games and wild playing, but playfulness should not be part of the basic equipment of his new best friend (if you have been looking for "Bodeguero" to find such a playmobile and now are thinking of just scrolling further, you are cordially invited to contact us. We will gladly help you find a real super athlete and ball addict!). Bruno appreciates dog companions who respect his relaxed attitude. He is easygoing and friendly, but also does fine without playmates. However, he really likes two-legged friends who understand a lot about massages, cuddling and comfortable walks.

About Bruno

What life with Bruno looks like

Bruno is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bruno, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bruno?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bruno on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bruno if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bruno already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bruno isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bruno and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
