Buddy (retriever x)

Mixed Breed · Male

🖤🐾 MEET BUDDY – OUR BONKERS, BEAUTIFUL BOY! 🐾🖤 Oh, Buddy! Where do we even start with this wee superstar? 😂❤️ Buddy is a four-year-old black Retriever cross, and he’s an absolute bundle of fun, mischief and love. He’s one of those dogs who just makes you smile. Full of beans, full of personality, and always ready for a bit of carry-on! 🥰 Cuddly? Absolutely! Buddy is affectionate, snuggly and loves nothing more than being close to his people. 🎾 Ball mad? You bet! If you fancy a game, Buddy is your boy! 🐾 Walks? No problem! He’s good on the lead and ready to head out and see what the world has to offer. 🐕 Other dogs? Buddy has lived with other dogs in a previous home, so he has experience of sharing his world with four-legged friends. Buddy is looking for an active home where he can be part of the family. He wants to join in with your daily adventures, get out and about, have fun, play games and make memories. He’s not looking for a life watching the world go by from the sidelines – he wants to be right in the middle of it all! ❤️ But when the adventures are over and the evening rolls around? Well, that’s when Buddy’s other side comes out. He’s more than happy to curl up beside you on the sofa, soak up the cuddles and enjoy being someone’s special boy. 🛋️💕 Honestly, Buddy is just lovely. He’s got the fun, the affection, the personality and all the ingredients to make a fantastic companion. All he needs now is someone to see what we see in him and give him the chance to be part of a family again. Could Buddy be your new adventure buddy and sofa snuggle partner? 🖤 📩 Follow the link to apply to adopt our gorgeous boy. Let’s get this wee superstar home! 🏡

About Buddy (retriever x)

What life with Buddy (retriever x) looks like

Buddy (retriever x) is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Almost Home Animal Rescue NI in Belfast.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇪Adopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Buddy (retriever x), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Buddy (retriever x)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Almost Home Animal Rescue NI handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Buddy (retriever x) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Buddy (retriever x) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Almost Home Animal Rescue NI will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Buddy (retriever x) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Buddy (retriever x) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Almost Home Animal Rescue NI early rather than rehoming privately; they know Buddy (retriever x) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
