adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Caja has found her home! Her story: Bistrita, Romania. The name Caja means "pure," and that's exactly what our Caja is—a pure soul that just wants to be loved. Alone and abandoned, the pretty black female dog was found and brought to us. While the loud shelter is certainly an improvement for her situation, it still takes a toll on all the dogs, including her. Therefore, we are united in our efforts to find a beautiful home for the wonderful female dog as quickly as possible. Caja is two years old and has already passed the puppy phase. At 45-50 cm, she is a medium-sized female dog. Our local colleagues describe her as initially reserved, but she warms up quickly and even allows petting after a short time. As soon as Caja notices that someone is paying attention to her and talking to her, she is over the moon and very happy. She gets along well with her fellow animals. For Caja, we are looking for understanding and patient people who can give her as much time as she needs to adjust. The pretty one probably can't yet meet all the expectations we have for our companions, like being housebroken, but we are sure she will learn these things with a little patience. In the long term, a visit to a dog training class that works with positive reinforcement would also be beneficial. Here, Caja can not only learn dog 1×1 and strengthen her bond with her people, but also play and communicate extensively with her doggy friends. Caja travels neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and flea-treated with her own EU pet passport in her luggage and into her new home for an adoption fee of 500 Euros. Of course, a foster placement would also make Caja very happy. Many thanks to Susann G.! You gave Caja her perfect name. As of: 15.04.

Vielen Dank Susann G.! Du hast Caja ihren passenden Namen geschenkt. Stand: 15.04.2024

About Caja

What life with Caja looks like

Caja is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Caja, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Caja?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Caja on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Caja if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Caja already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Caja isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Caja and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
