Camilia

Female · Adult · 5 years

Camilia came to our shelter with Hunter and Dahlia after their previous owners surrendered the three dogs. We know little about her past, but it is clear that she has not had many positive experiences with people. Therefore, she still finds it difficult to trust others. Camilia approaches strangers very cautiously at first. She prefers to retreat into her dog house and observe from a safe distance. At no time is she aggressive - she simply does not know that nobody wants to harm her today. However, with her familiar caregivers, she makes small but important progress and slowly begins to open up. Camilia, like her sister, is a sensitive and gentle female dog who seeks people who do not pressure her, but give her the time she needs. Every step, no matter how small, is a big success for her and shows how much potential she has. With patience, calmness and loving companionship, she will gradually learn to build trust and leave her uncertainty behind. Camilia is currently learning the ABC of dogs. Walking on a leash is already being practiced and with each positive experience, her self-confidence grows a little more. We wish Camilia a quiet home with understanding people who give her security and let her arrive at her own pace. Whoever gives her this chance will be able to experience how a shy female dog gradually becomes a faithful and loving companion. It is often the quiet dogs that build a particularly deep bond with their humans - and we are convinced that Camilia is just such a female dog. Camilia is vaccinated, chipped, spayed, dewormed, with an EU vaccination passport, after a positive pre-check and protection contract, she will be placed in loving, patient hands. DE·Show original

About Camilia

What life with Camilia looks like

Camilia is a large adult dog waiting at animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen in Ketzin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Camilia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Camilia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Camilia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Camilia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Camilia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Camilia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Camilia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
