23-06-2026 Omdat Carlos’ Leish titer goed was en hij dus geen speciale verzorging meer nodig heeft, werd hij bij Luna en Gordon in de kennel gezet. Hij zat al enige tijd in de ‘corridor’ van die (quarantaine) kennel en had dus al veelvuldig contact gehad met Luna en Gordon. Toen Zane naar zijn tussenhuisje vertrok, schoof hij makkelijk zo door. Het contact tussen de drie verliep prima! Bij een grote verhuizing van de pups uit de verlaten tuin in Kopanaki naar een kennel op de Safe Haven, werd ervoor gekozen de drie te ruilen met Bruno. Bruno in de quarantaine kennel en Carlos naast de kleintjes. Natuurlijk gaat dat ook heel goed! “𝘊𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘰𝘴 𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘫𝘧𝘵 𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘦 𝘬𝘢𝘭𝘮𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘥. Carlos heeft dus Leish, maar het is onder controle. We zoeken voor Carlos een rustig, geduldig persoon, die alle tijd en aandacht voor hem heeft. Carlos in het kort: – Lief – Bescheiden – Houdt van knuffelen – Kan met andere hondjes – Voorzichtig – Leishmania Het begin Carla, Carlos, Don Juan en Jose. Vier kleine muppets die wederom in de volière of haven hokjes gedumpt zijn. De pups worden geschat dat ze uitgroeien tot middelmaatjes. Ouders zijn onbekend, dus uiteraard een schatting! Ze zijn allemaal zoals jonge pups behoren te zijn. Onderzoekend, speels, hongerig, en op z’n tijd slaperig. Deze pups zijn inmiddels geënt en zodoende veilig. 25-08-2025 Carlos werd in 2020 gevonden in de vreselijke havenhokjes; gedumpt als alle anderen in die tijd. Giannis nam de 4 broertjes en zusje mee naar huis en verzorgde ze daar, tot Carlos verkeerd beschuldigd werd door de buurman van het achter de kippen aanrennen en hij terug moest naar de havenhokken. Hier desocialiseerde hij snel, door de ontberingen die hij moest doorstaan (de jeugd pestte de hondjes, gooiden met glas naar ze, daagden ze uit…) Hij werd weer naar Memi gehaald, maar het was te laat. Toen het zijn beurt was naar de FTS Safe Haven te verhuizen, kwam hij in een kennel met o. a. Nero en later Rachel. Tijden niet de meest sociale hondjes. Maar toch ontdooide hij weer naar de mensen. Zeker toen het Workaway programma al even draaide, zagen we dat hij meer en meer naar de mensen toe kwam voor aandacht en knuffels… En toen sloeg het noodlot toe. Carlos zag er snel slechter uit. In januari 2025 ging hij naar de dierenarts en bleek dat hij Leishmania had. Hij werd tijdelijk in de corridor verzorgd en kreeg daardoor heel veel extra aandacht van de Workawayers; dat deed hem goed! De opleving werd neergeslagen en hij verhuisde uiteindelijk naar een ‘kennel’ naast Gordon, Zane en Luna en aan de andere kant Matt en Pepper. Hier hoort eigenlijk geen hond gehouden te worden, maar het is de enige mogelijkheid hem apart te houden, om hem zijn dagelijkse dosis medicijnen te geven. Die eet hij met smaak zo op, in een hapje pate. Inmiddels is hij weer goed aangesterkt en door deze hele episode zien we ook dat hij wel degelijk te adopteren is! Dus, Carlos, een lieverd, met een klein gebrekje (Leish), maar wel zachtaardig en aanhankelijk naar zijn verzorger. Hij heeft een fikse rugzak, maar wel een die gevuld mag gaan worden met positieve belevenissen. 11-12-2025 Carlos wordt duidelijk vrolijker!!! Het is aan alles te zien dat Carlos beter wordt. Hij keek erg uit naar zijn dagelijkse pate (met een verstopt pilletje) en danste zelfs bij de deur als de vrijwilligers ermee aankwamen. Natuurlijk werden de hondjes die dan vrolijk meeliepen en hoopten dat het schaaltje zou vallen, weggeblaft! Maar die tijd is over, want Carlos is naar de dierenarts geweest en zijn bloedwaarden zijn zo goed dat hij niet eens meer aan een onderhoudsdosis medicijnen hoeft. Carlos heeft de aanval doorstaan! Deze periode is voor zijn socialisatie wel heel goed geweest. Hij is nog steeds voorzichtig, maar een ervaren adoptant (of foster) zal veel liefde van hem krijgen.
