Caya &#8211

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 30 years

Caya must sadly be given up due to family reasons, but she can still remain in her current home until she finds a new one. Caya is very people-oriented, cuddly, and lively. She has a good upbringing, knows her boundaries and taboos. She likes children and is very uncomplicated in handling, but she needs clear commands and a guide who leads and shows her the way. Caya adapts quickly to new situations and finds a routine quickly. She shows typical Cane Corso traits and is a great family dog who wants to give and receive love. She gets along well with fellow animals and many other species. However, she dislikes Huskies because she had an incident with this breed as a puppy. Caya should not be disturbed while eating by other dogs, as she shows food aggression. She also shares her toys with fellow animals very reluctantly. Caya needs dog-experienced people (ideally over 30 years old) who meet her needs and will adopt her as a family member. Caya is vaccinated, microchipped, and will be rehomed for an adoption fee of CHF 650.–.

About Caya &#8211

What life with Caya &#8211 looks like

Caya &#8211 is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzbund Basel Regional.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Caya &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Caya &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzbund Basel Regional handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Caya &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Caya &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzbund Basel Regional will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Caya &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Caya &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzbund Basel Regional early rather than rehoming privately; they know Caya &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
