Charly

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Charly, born in 2023 and approximately 53 cm tall, is waiting with his brother Choko to finally be discovered by his people. The two brothers came to Estera as small puppies. At that time, they were threatened with a sad fate, as they were supposed to be poisoned. Estera did not hesitate and took the two into her care so that they could grow up in safety. Their mother lives in the village to this day. She is very shy and unfortunately never caught, but is seen regularly. Despite this difficult start in life, Charly has developed into a very friendly, open, playful, and people-oriented male. He enjoys the proximity to people very much, is happy about attention and likes to be stroked extensively. It is particularly nice that Charly is also a little cuddly monster and clearly enjoys the time with his caregivers. He lives peacefully in a group and shows himself to be socially well-suited. A confident first dog would therefore not be a problem for Charly. Now, the lovable young male only needs one thing: a family of his own. People who give him security, let him participate in their lives and show him how beautiful a home can be. With his open and loving nature, Charly brings the best prerequisites to become a loyal companion for life. Charly still has a lot to learn. He is not yet familiar with life in the house. Walking on a leash will also be new for him. But with love and patience, he will learn that quickly. Attending a dog school would certainly also be a great benefit for him. The two beautiful fluffy brothers should not have to wait any longer. They have already missed so much time in the shelter. That's why we are looking for a suitable foster home for Charly, which serves as a stepping stone to a new life - or a loving forever home, in which Charly can arrive at his own pace. Charly is neutered and will be vaccinated, chipped and after a positive preliminary check with a protection contract. General note on our protégés: Our dogs in Romania are regularly visited so that we can always reassess their behavior and development. These personal impressions help us very much to convey a possible good picture of each individual dog. Nevertheless, we would like to point out that a dog in a new environment - with new people, new routines and new impressions - can also show itself differently. This is quite normal and is part of every change process. Many dogs open up faster at home and show sides that were not visible in the shelter at all. Our assessments are therefore based on current observations, but are not a guarantee for every behavior in the new environment. They should give an orientation and show how the dog presents himself in the shelter - and what potential is in him. We are convinced: With patience, understanding and a loving environment, every dog can find his way and develop positively.

About Charly

What life with Charly looks like

Charly is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Charly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Charly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Charly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Charly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Charly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Charly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Charly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
