adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this dog! Chayton had to endure a lot in his previous life. He came from a Romanian horror shelter where the dogs were only fed irregularly, some were brutally mistreated, and many were exposed to freezing temperatures without protection and succumbed to them. In a large rescue operation by several animal welfare organizations, the shelter was emptied – and Chayton left behind this place of suffering. Today, he lives at the our shelter in Fântânele, Romania. There, he is safe and well cared for, but a small kennel cannot replace a real home. Chayton is waiting to finally arrive at his own people's home – in an environment that offers him stability, love, and security. Chayton is approximately 5 years old, about 57 cm tall, and weighs around 25 kg. With his reddish-blond, slightly wiry fur, cute bat ears, and his black, slightly puzzled eyes ("What's happening here?"), he brings a very special charm. Optically, he somewhat reminds one of a terrier mix – for sure, he is a real eye-catcher. Character-wise, Chayton initially shows some reserve. He approaches new situations and strangers cautiously at first. But as soon as he is addressed kindly and called to come closer, he warms up – and then turns into a joyful, affectionate companion who enjoys being close to humans. It can be felt that he has not only experienced good things in his life, but how much he accepts positive affection when met with patience. Chayton needs people who take the time to earn his trust and respect his sensitive side. In a stable, loving family, he will certainly flourish and become a loyal, clingy companion. Once he understands that he belongs, he shows his cuddly and cheerful side. Like many of our dogs, Chayton probably hasn't experienced life in a house yet. Indoor toilet training, leash manners, and daily routines need to be established in peace. With loving consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement, he will master these steps well. A visit to a positively working dog training class could further support him and strengthen his bond with his people. We wish Chayton a quiet, reliable home with empathetic people who will give him security and show him that tough times are truly over. Chayton travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with EU pet passport to his new home.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Chayton musste in seinem bisherigen Leben viel ertragen.

About Chayton

What life with Chayton looks like

Chayton is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chayton, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chayton?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chayton on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chayton if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chayton already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chayton isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chayton and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
