Chewie

Male · Senior · 10 years

Chewie is chewing over his retirement plans... and they include plenty of love and fuss! This charming gentleman may be entering his golden years, but he still has a spring in his step and a heart full of love to share. Affectionate, easy-going and wonderfully endearing, Chewie is looking for a cosy place to call home where he can relax and enjoy a tasty chew too! Chewie has been a pleasure to spend time with, enjoying gentle fusses, peaceful walks and quality time with staff. He has a calm, independent nature around other dogs, preferring polite introductions over rowdy play sessions. Chewie enjoys exploring at his own pace and then settling down for a well-earned snooze! As he is an older gentleman any new owners will need to speak to our veterinary team who will go through the support that he is needing in his new home. This sweet boy is searching for a quieter home where he can enjoy a relaxed routine and continue life at a comfortable pace. He would love owners who are around for much of the day initially, can provide a secure outdoor space and are happy to take things at his pace when he encounters new situations. With patience, understanding and plenty of affection, Chewie is sure to flourish into a loyal companion and friend for life. About Chewie

What life with Chewie looks like

Chewie is a medium-sized senior dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chewie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chewie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chewie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chewie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chewie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chewie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chewie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
