Chicco &#8211

Mixed Breed · Unknown

The former owners of Chicco had to part ways with him due to severe health issues that prevented them from meeting his needs. Chicco was purchased as a 6-month-old puppy in Switzerland. Just before his adoption, he underwent a successful heart operation (PDA) and can now lead a completely normal dog life. Chicco is open-minded, interested, and very quick to show his behavior. He is people-oriented and will sometimes protest with a growl if people don’t throw the ball or leave during play or relaxation. If he feels frustration or stress, he may jump and snap. He gets along well with fellow animals. He enjoys car rides but still needs to train to be more comfortable being alone. Chicco needs dog-experienced people, preferably with experience with hunting dogs. People who can meet his needs and actively include him in their daily lives. Ideally, Chicco will find a quiet new home with people, preferably with responsible children or teenagers, and with another dog that would adopt him as a family member and companion. Chicco’s diary with more pictures, videos, and information can be found on the website of the dog shelter Grisette: Chicco. If you would like to meet Chicco informally and offer him a suitable home, we look forward to receiving your informal application form: if you leave a message on our answering machine, we will call you back) or by email: . Chicco is vaccinated, microchipped, and comes with 600. This animal has a history of biting. This is a young, adolescent dog.

About Chicco &#8211

What life with Chicco &#8211 looks like

Chicco &#8211 is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzbund Basel Regional.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chicco &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chicco &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzbund Basel Regional handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chicco &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chicco &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzbund Basel Regional will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chicco &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chicco &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzbund Basel Regional early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chicco &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
