Chocolat

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Alvia, La Voix Des Animaux 12-month-old male Type: Shepherd mix Weight: 18 kilos 🚨 The horror on the asphalt: The silent cry of Chocolat 🚨 Look at him closely. This young shepherd mix is Chocolat. He is 12 months old and weighs 18 kilos today, but his story begins with an unbearable act of cruelty. Picture the scene: a frail body lying on the cold ground, in the middle of the street. A young dog, struck by a car and left there. Screaming in pain, alone, with a leg broken in multiple places. The worst part is not the accident, but the icy indifference of the person who abandoned him to his fate. How can anyone leave a living creature, a puppy only a few months old, to die in agony on the sidewalk? When we found him, Chocolat was nothing but a shadow, a bundle of suffering and emaciation. Every breath was a struggle, every movement a torment. His body was in pieces, his heart broken by human betrayal. But humanity also has another face. Thanks to the unwavering determination of our volunteers, we threw ourselves into a race against time. Intensive emergency care, followed by a long rehabilitation at the boarding facility. We fought for every gram regained, for every step relearned. We got him back in good shape, restoring his dignity and his joy in living. Today, Chocolat is a survivor, a warrior who has overcome horror. He is ready to love again. Despite what he has been through, his heart is pure: ✅ OK with cats ✅ OK with dogs ✅ OK with children He has survived the unthinkable. He deserves a life of gentleness and safety. Let us not let his fight be in vain. Help us erase the memory of that night of horror by offering him the home he should never have lost. Share his story. This is a call to justice and to love. Neutered, vaccinated He is available for adoption throughout France and neighboring countries. 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 If you would like to apply to adopt him, contact us

About Chocolat

What life with Chocolat looks like

Chocolat is a puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Alvia La Voix Des Animaux in France.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chocolat, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chocolat?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Alvia La Voix Des Animaux handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chocolat on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chocolat if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Alvia La Voix Des Animaux will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Chocolat already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chocolat isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Alvia La Voix Des Animaux early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chocolat and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
