Adopt Clara

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 5 years

"This is a Jack Russell Terrier, isn't it?" Owners of Bodegueros know this question very well, and the answer after "No, it's a Bodeguero" is usually a long, broadly grinning praise of the dog at the end of the leash. The Bodeguero is longer-legged than the Jack Russell, but that is not the only, and above all, not the decisive difference. Unlike their usually very restless and barking British counterparts, the Bodeguero is considered very balanced--and is often a better companion for children. However, the Spaniards are still Terriers out of the picture book: friendly, obedient, hardworking, sometimes a bit stubborn, and extremely playful. The prey drive of these funny fellows is often not to be underestimated, after all, they were specifically bred as rat catchers. Our new arrival Clara is such a funny Terrier type, which could not be more Spanish. The two-and-a-half-year-old fun machine with the typical (but also particularly beautiful) mask met a animal lover during her lonely wander through the streets of Seville, who not only walked away sadly, but decided to help the nice dog lady. And so Clara came into the care of our partners from Arca Sevilla three weeks ago, at the end of April 2021. Clara quickly became a favorite of all staff members at Arca Sevilla. The amazing tricolor girl is very people-oriented and is happy with any kind of affection, whether it is a ball game, a cuddle, or just a good word--it is not difficult to win Clara's heart if you take some time for her. Our cheerful Andalusian is cuddly and loving, she will certainly be a great couch dog, but with a smart Terrier mind, the entertainment program must also be right. The clever little dog wants to explore and learn a lot, she wants to meet friends in the new neighborhood and play wildly through the meadows. If you are looking for a small sports machine that also extremely appreciates the cozy sides of life, if you know how to resist big round eyes when they beg for the tenth cookie, if you like being outdoors and have fun ideas for tricks that our little golden treasure can learn, then contact us and soon get to know your new best friend!

About Clara

What life with Clara looks like

Clara is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Clara, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Clara?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Clara on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Clara if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Clara already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Clara isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Clara and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
