Comet

Cocker Spaniel Β· Female Β· Adult Β· 6 years

20-10-26 Comet is a nervous lady who has come to us from a breeder and is still learning that us humans can be kind. She can be quite skittish, but she is slowly gaining confidence by watching her kennel friends and following their lead. She will sometimes run up to you for a fuss, although it is only for a brief moment before she retreats again. She is making progress at her own pace and just needs time to learn that the world can be a safe place. Comet thrives in the company of other dogs and will need at least one kind and confident resident dog in her new home to help show her the ropes and give her confidence as she continues to blossom. Her adopters will need to be patient and understanding as she learns all about home life, including house training and walking on a lead. She can live with older, dog-savvy children who understand she needs time to settle in. Comet has lots of energy, and once she has settled in and grown in confidence, she will love heading out on plenty of adventures with her new family. She is a sweet girl who is still finding her paws in this big world, and we know that with the right home, patience and a canine friend by her side, she has so much potential to blossom into a wonderful companion. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Comet

What life with Comet looks like

Comet is a large adult cocker spaniel dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible β€” a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Comet, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Comet?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Comet on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Comet if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Comet already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Comet isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Comet and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
