adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Cuba was rescued from the street – a place that should never have been home for such a young dog. His past is shrouded in mystery; no one knows where he originally came from. But his last "habitat" were the streets of Romania. Perhaps he was separated from his mother too soon and simply abandoned. Perhaps he never knew what it was like to grow up in safety. One can only imagine what he might have experienced: hunger, insecurity, the constant search for a safe place to sleep at night. Perhaps he had to learn to recognize dangers early, to persevere, and to make do with little. Yet he has preserved one thing – his openness to life. Now, Cuba waits in a foster home in Baia Mare. There he is safe, but it is not a place for growing up. A young dog like him should be allowed to discover the world, to sense security, and to learn that life offers more than cold nights and hard ground. He should grow up in his own family, in a home that shows him how wonderful a dog's life can be. Cuba is an approximately 4-month-old, small male dog who is expected to reach a medium size when fully grown. His short, sandy to light brown fur shines softly. Still, he is slender-built, with a slender body and delicate legs that make him appear light and agile. His large, soft floppy ears give him a particularly endearing expression, and overall, he looks like a young dog just at the beginning of his life – curious, gentle, and full of possibilities. His nature is very puppy-like: playful, open, and friendly. He gets along well with people and with other dogs. Cuba approaches his surroundings with curiosity without being intrusive. In him lies this wonderful mix of cautious curiosity and the desire for closeness. When Cuba moves into his new home, everything will be new to him. New sounds, new smells, new people – a completely different world. He will need time to adjust and to build trust. House training, leash manners, everyday rules – he is not yet familiar with these and must learn them step by step. Throughout this process, he needs people who can guide him with love but also consistency, give him security, and show him how life as a family dog works. A visit to a positively working dog training class can be a valuable support and strengthen the bond at the same time. As a young dog, Cuba not only needs peace and security but also age-appropriate mental stimulation. Playful learning, small discovery tours, and shared time will help him develop into a balanced companion. Throughout this, it should always be ensured not to overwhelm him but to bring the world to him at his own pace. Soon, Cuba will enter puberty – a phase that can often be challenging. Boundaries will be tested, previously learned things may seem forgotten, and emotions will be on a rollercoaster. During this time, patience, understanding, and clear, loving guidance are particularly important. Those who accompany him here will be rewarded with a loyal and wonderful dog who binds closely to his people. For Cuba, we wish a home full of warmth, patience, and empathy. People who don't just "take him in" but really let him settle in. Those who are ready to accompany him on his journey – with all his small steps, his progress, and perhaps also his uncertainties. Cuba doesn't seek a perfect home. He seeks a real one. A home where he finally gets what he has never had before: security, love, and the feeling of belonging. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Cuba hatte keinen einfachen Start ins Leben.

About Cuba

What life with Cuba looks like

Cuba is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cuba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cuba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cuba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cuba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cuba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cuba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cuba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
