Cuda

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 5 months

During our Sardinia tour in March 2026, a visit to the LIDA refuge in Olbia was naturally part of our itinerary. Since the weather on this trip was also quite mixed and heavy rain showers kept interrupting our photo sessions, we weren't able to photograph all the dogs Marco had arranged for us in a single day. So we had to make a second trip to the refuge. And as it started raining heavily again on the way there, we already thought that this appointment, too, would literally fall by the wayside. But when we arrived at the refuge, the rain stopped. And fortunately, this large sibling group had taken shelter under a protective roof during the rain, so they were reasonably dry after all. Upon our arrival at the enclosure, we were joyfully greeted by eleven young dogs: Cannella, Canada, CocoChanel, Cuda, Caramella, Cheope, Chiquita, Chimera, as well as Clash and Cash. The twelfth sibling, Clelia, was housed elsewhere because she had been bullied within the group. We didn't meet Clelia until later. Marco told us that this dozen puppies had been born to a shepherd. It's not known whether they all share the same mother. But it wouldn't be unusual for a Maremmano dog to give birth to twelve pups. We can be glad these little ones ended up at the refuge. After all, ten of them are females... One can hardly imagine how many more offspring they would have produced if they'd stayed in the countryside with the shepherd. In any case, it was great fun getting to know these young dogs. They were a bit uneasy about being picked up and held in our arms for photos—after all, they weren't used to that. Otherwise, though, they all happily romped around us, eager to closely observe everything we were doing. For Cannella, Canada, CocoChanel, Cuda, Caramella, Cheope, Chiquita, Chimera, Clelia, as well as the boys Clash and Cash, it would be crucial for their further development that they leave the refuge as soon as possible. The sooner they find themselves in a family environment, the better. On our team project tour, alongside wonderful partners, we got to know twelve very special furry noses. The siblings have developed splendidly—still a bit reserved, but incredibly sweet, curious, and open-minded. Every bit of attention means a lot to them, and now they're hoping to soon join their own families and finally find happiness in a loving home. May 29, 2026: Cuda was able to travel to her foster home in Germany. June 7, 2026: The two sisters, Cannella and Cuda, have already settled in very well at their foster homes and are proving to be exceptionally affectionate, friendly, and sociable young dogs. They get along effortlessly with other dogs, cats, and small children, and are mastering their daily life better and better with each passing day. Cannella is the more outgoing of the two sisters. Curious and open, she approaches new situations with confidence, quickly builds trust, and enjoys being close to her people. She's playful, cuddly, and eager to explore the world together with her family. Cuda, on the other hand, is a bit more cautious and sensitive. In new situations, she still seems unsure and needs some time to build trust. However, with the right people by her side who provide her with security and guidance, this will surely ease up soon. Once she's gained trust, she too reveals her loving and friendly nature. Just like humans, each of the two sisters has her own unique character. Each one is an individual with her own strengths and traits. Yet, they all share a big heart, kindness, and willingness to bond with their people. With a bit of patience, love, and understanding, both Cannella and Cuda will become wonderful companions for life. Would you like to show one of these charming young dogs just how wonderful a home of their own can be? Then Cannella and Cuda are looking forward to meeting you. July 15, 2026: Recently, Cuda was photographed by photographer Sabine Fehrenbach. A big thank you to Sabine, who met with the foster family and, with the new photos, provides wonderful support for Cuda and her...

Clelia lernten wir also erst später kennen.

About Cuda

What life with Cuda looks like

Cuda is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cuda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cuda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cuda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cuda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cuda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cuda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cuda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
