Cumbia

Brittany Spaniel · Female · Young · 3 years

Cumbia was found on the countryside near a village along with a litter of puppies. The puppies were adopted by people who wanted to take them in. Only Cumbia remained with Andina. Both were not tagged and no one reported to look for them. That's why they came to Melampo. Cumbia is an exceptionally loving and people-oriented dog. She enjoys the attention of the volunteer helpers and is happy about petting, playing together and any form of affection. She shows no fear or anxiety towards people and approaches them very openly and trustingly. She is active, cheerful and extremely sympathetic. At the same time, Cumbia still needs to learn some everyday things. For example, she showed some nervousness during a car ride to the vet. Therefore, we assume that certain everyday situations are still unknown to her. With patience, calmness and positive support, she will learn these experiences step by step and gain confidence. At the vet, she tested positive for anaplasmosis and is now being treated accordingly. In addition, she will be sterilized next week (end of August). Cumbia is looking for people who enjoy showing her the world and lovingly introducing her to new situations. Anyone looking for a loyal, active and very people-oriented dog and willing to give her the necessary time for acclimatization could find in Cumbia a wonderful companion.

DE·Show original

About Cumbia

What life with Cumbia looks like

Cumbia is a young adult brittany spaniel dog waiting at Melampo in Melampo.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cumbia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cumbia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Melampo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cumbia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cumbia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Melampo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cumbia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cumbia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Melampo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cumbia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
