Adopt DADEK

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 14 years

Virtual caregiver: Jagoda Czernicka and Kindergarten No. 4 from Swiebodzin, group "Frogs". Year of birth: 2012. DADEK, once full of vigor, always pulling on the leash, ready for crazy chases after balls and spontaneous adventures, has become more steady and balanced with age and due to his weight. Although he now moves more slowly and prefers quiet walks, he still enjoys playing with his favorite toys, showing the same joy and enthusiasm as in the old days. Despite the passage of time, DADEK still has certain fears related to meeting new people - at first contact, he can be distrustful and may react with loud, intimidating barking. However, when someone gains his trust, he can show deep affection and loyalty. DADEK does not like various grooming or veterinary procedures, such as brushing or health check-ups. He can however clearly communicate his dissatisfaction through growling. To a trusted person, he shows his disapproval in a more subtle way - trying to hide, hiding in the doghouse or seeking shelter to avoid an uncomfortable situation for himself. He is open to contact with other animals - dogs and cats interest him. He tolerates school-age children he knows, but, as befits a dog with character, he requires respect for his boundaries. DADEK is a midget on his own terms - he loves cuddles, but needs space to feel comfortable. We are looking for a responsible and patient owner for Dadko, who will understand his needs, help him overcome his fears and give him a real, loving home where he can feel safe and happy.

Jednak z czasem, gdy ktoś zdobędzie jego zaufanie, potrafi obdarzyć go głębokim uczuciem i lojalnością. About DADEK

What life with DADEK looks like

DADEK is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Zielonej Górze in Zielona Góra.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting DADEK, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about DADEK?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Zielonej Górze handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw DADEK on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt DADEK if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Zielonej Górze will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is DADEK already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if DADEK isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Zielonej Górze early rather than rehoming privately; they know DADEK and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
