Daiko & Ice

Border Collie Β· Male Β· Senior Β· 12 years

We are Daiko (12 years) and Ice (10 years). Two older gentlemen who suddenly ended up in the shelter together after the death of our owner. πŸ’” Unfortunately, they don't know much about our past here. But one thing became clear quickly: we need each other. We seek each other out, give each other support and clearly feel better when we are together. That's why we also want to find a warm bed together for our last years. ❀️ Ice is a Border Collie and still enjoys a nice long walk. I, Daiko, have trouble with my old bones and prefer to take it easy. A walk at my pace? If it's not too far. Then just relax. πŸ˜‰ They think we are probably housebroken, as long as we can go outside on time. Other animals are not necessary for us. We have each other and that is more than enough for us. πŸ₯° 🏑 A garden would be great for us. Not to run around for hours, but to sniff around together, snooze in the sun and just enjoy each other's company.

About Daiko & Ice

What life with Daiko & Ice looks like

Daiko & Ice is a senior border collie dog waiting at Dierenasiel Ninove in Ninove.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

πŸ‡§πŸ‡ͺAdopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Daiko & Ice, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Daiko & Ice?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Ninove handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Daiko & Ice on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Daiko & Ice if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Dierenasiel Ninove will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Daiko & Ice already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Daiko & Ice isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Ninove early rather than rehoming privately; they know Daiko & Ice and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
