Daisy

Greyhound · Female · Young · 3 years

Meet Daisy! She is a friendly, sweet-natured girl who absolutely loves her cuddles and enjoys being around people. Daisy has a lovely playful side too and can often be found having a good old run around our secure compound, chasing after her favourite toys and enjoying some classic Greyhound zoomies! Daisy walks nicely on the lead and is a pleasure to take out. She also loves being groomed, happily enjoying all the attention and fuss. Like many ex-racing greyhounds, Daisy has never lived in a home before, so her new adopter will need to give her time, patience and understanding while she learns all about home life. House training, new routines, household noises and settling into a new environment will all be a completely new experience for her, with kindness, consistency and plenty of reassurance, Daisy can begin to discover just how wonderful life as a much-loved pet can be. When she gets over excited, Daisy can be a little mouthy, so her new adopter will need to help her learn appropriate ways to express her excitement. Daisy is a fun-loving, affectionate girl with plenty of personality. She loves to play, enjoys cuddles and is ready to leave her racing days behind and start the next chapter of her life. Daisy has so much love and fun to give and is looking forward to finding a special family she can call her own. Daisy will need a private secure garden so she can safely have off lead time. Daisy has socialised well with other dogs whilst in our care, so we feel she could potentially live with another dog of similar size following a successful meet and greet. No cats of small furries for her.

About Daisy

What life with Daisy looks like

Daisy is a large young adult greyhound dog waiting at Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) in Manchester.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Daisy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Daisy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Daisy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Daisy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Daisy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Daisy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Daisy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
