Adopt Dexter E

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Profile: Born in 2022, Gender: male, neutered: yes, Character: very friendly, Size: approx. 45 cm, In shelter since: September 2023 Hello, I'm Dexter. Not long ago, I still lived on the street. Luckily, I was able to join a nice group of dogs there, who taught me how to survive on the street. But then, suddenly, we were all loaded into a car and brought here. Now we are all behind bars. I notice that the mood among some of the dogs here is very gloomy. They have been here for years, waiting to be adopted. But others are very happy. These are usually the very young dogs with lots of energy, who just have ideas in their heads. They make the most of their time and have fun with each other, living carefree. I am one year old and I sit somewhere between the young and the older dogs. Can I be as carefree as the little ones? Or should I be gloomy because that might be my end? I have decided to not give up. I am happy when the caretakers come to us and pose nicely for the photos that are taken of us. Maybe that will help the people who have been waiting for me to notice me. If you are interested in adopting Dexter, please fill out our interest form () or send us an email or a message on Facebook. Dexter is ready to travel and can be transported to Germany with the next shipment. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system that monitors the entire animal transport within the EU. The dogs travel neutered (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed, and have an EU passport. Additionally, for dogs over 12 months old, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is conducted before travel arrangements: Borreliosis, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariosis, and leishmaniasis. The sponsorship for Dexter has been taken over by Alexander H., who ensures that his bowl is always full. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!

Steckbrief Alter: 2022 geboren Geschlecht: männlich Kastriert: ja Charakter: sehr freundlich Größe: ca. 45 cm Im Shelter seit: September 2023 Hallöchen, ich bin Dexter.

About Dexter E

What life with Dexter E looks like

Dexter E is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dexter E, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dexter E?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dexter E on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dexter E if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dexter E already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dexter E isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dexter E and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
