Domi

Mixed Breed · Male

When Domi has his cheerful grin on his face, even Kermit the Frog would be envious. With eyes fixed on the hand holding the ball, the wonderful Brittany male dog eagerly waits for the toy to fly through the air so he can chase it wildly and then immediately return to demand the next round. Domi is the embodiment of a happy, very well-balanced, and affectionate dog, and anyone who sees him would not believe that this clever, three-year-old (as of 11/2022) gentleman was still sitting paralyzed with fear in the Perrera Zoosanitario in Seville just four weeks ago. Walking through the narrow, dark corridors, looking into the oppressive, unpleasant-smelling concrete enclosures, and deciding who escapes from this hell and who must be left behind because neither finances nor accommodation possibilities are sufficient to save all the dogs, is among the most difficult tasks for animal welfare workers. Many, even most, of those left behind face death, either through pathogens that thrive particularly well in the Perrera during the summer and always find a host in the unvaccinated and weakened dogs, or through the injection that awaits the unadoptable four-legged animals. But Domi is now outside and could not be happier. Yet, the lovable floppy-eared dog is still living in the animal shelter, behind bars, with only few opportunities for play and cuddles. How much more will the friendly, lively fur-nose enjoy when Domi is finally able to leave the world of the kennels behind? Although the Brittanys look very similar to Cocker Spaniels, their character is quite different. Gentle and empathetic, these smallest gundogs of the world join their families. A "firm hand" causes only confusion in these friendly floppy-eared dogs, they learn quickly and easily through rewards and praise. Domi is also very easy to handle, he loves to please and has this "Brittany spot"... Do you not know it? I'm talking about the most beautiful spot on a stuffed animal like our model athlete. Behind the ear there is a point where some longer hairs grow, the softest hairs you can imagine. When you stroke this spot and let the playful ears glide through your fingers, your blood pressure drops, your breathing becomes calm, everything is good! You think I'm talking about the dog? No, these effects are not only noticeable for the one being stroked, but also affect the one doing the stroking equally. If you don't believe me, you should definitely try it! Domi is not only cuddly, soft, warm, and extremely affectionate, he is also playful, eager to learn, and typical of his breed in intelligence. If you also love playing ball, going for walks, if you never get tired of thinking up funny tricks, and if you always have a spot free for a born cuddly bear, then you should really seriously consider whether you might not have a dog bed available for our friendly new arrival!.

DE·Show original

About Domi

What life with Domi looks like

Domi is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Domi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Domi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Domi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Domi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Domi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Domi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Domi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
