Domino

Jack Russell Terrier · Male · Adult · 7 years

Domino is a sweet and affectionate Terrier Cross Chihuahua with a gentle nature and a real love for people. Once he's had the chance to explore a new place, he's happiest by your side, leaning in for fusses and happily asking for more attention with a little nuzzle of his nose. He loves spending time with his favourite people and has a lovely, relaxed personality once he feels comfortable. Exploring the great outdoors is one of Domino's favourite pastimes, and he's always keen to investigate every interesting smell along the way. Food is another of his greatest loves, making training both fun and rewarding. He takes treats gently, enjoys enrichment activities and travels calmly in the car, making him a lovely companion for adventures. Domino may be a little chap, but he has plenty of love to give. With a family who can help him continue growing in confidence and celebrate all the wonderful things that make him unique, Domino is sure to become a loyal and devoted best friend. Domino is looking for a patient and understanding home that will help him continue building his confidence. He would love adopters who enjoy taking gentle walks where he can spend plenty of time sniffing and exploring his surroundings. As Domino can feel worried around unfamiliar dogs and some men, his new family should be happy to follow his introduction plan and continue using positive, reward-based training to help him feel safe and confident. Domino is looking for a home where he can be the only pet and could live with secondary-school-aged children and older who understand when he needs a little space. A private garden would be ideal for him to potter around and explore, although other secure exercise arrangements may be considered. He settles well once left alone but would benefit from any leaving time being built up gradually as he settles into his new home.

About Domino

What life with Domino looks like

Domino is a adult jack russell terrier dog waiting at Dogs Trust Newbury in Newbury.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Domino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Domino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Newbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Domino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Domino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Newbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Domino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Domino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Newbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Domino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
