Adopt Dorly

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 8 years

Reference No.: h-korfu-dorly-f-0322 Update August 2024: Dorly has now been waiting for over 2 years to be discovered by the right people. Is she simply not "cute" enough? Dorly lives in the large outdoor run between the enclosures and really shows herself to be loving there. She has so much to give and wants to finally find HER people! Her bikini figure needs some work, as she currently weighs 41kg. Update September 2022: Dorly continues to be very friendly towards both people and other dogs and always enjoys cuddles. She is also very well-behaved on walks and walks perfectly on a leash. March 2022: Dorly is estimated to be 4-5 years old and currently weighs 30kg with a shoulder height of about 60cm. She comes from the northern part of the island, where she appeared on a busy road in mid-February. For her own safety, we took Dorly into the our shelter. She is described as a very friendly and sociable lady dog. She "grins" and, as can be seen in the video, her whole body wiggles when she's happy :) When she was brought to the our shelter, Dorly traveled well in the car and walked nicely on the leash. At the our shelter, she shares an outdoor run with a male dog and is tolerant. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, and have an EU pet passport.

20250706 01 Dorly Juli 2025 20250312 07 Dorly Maerz 2025 20250312 06 Dorly Maerz 2025

About Dorly

What life with Dorly looks like

Dorly is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. in Ratingen.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dorly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dorly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dorly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dorly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dorly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dorly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dorly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
