Dublin

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

Dublin (f. 05/08-17) Hunn | 8 years old | Good with children | Not good with other animals Dublin is a long-haired tabby with a beautiful tricolor coat. She is a young and active cat who likes to run, jump and climb up high. She is affectionate and pampered and likes to be petted. Dublin likes when the foster mother lifts her up and holds her in the crook of her arm, but she is not so fond of being on the leash. DUBLIN IS IN FOSTER CARE IN FINNSNES. Get to know Dublin better Dublin does not get along well with other cats, often she hisses when another cat comes too close. She has a small ongoing conflict with the house's resident cat, but is okay with the other foster cat. When she is stressed, she can urinate/Mark on different things that are on the floor: rugs, clothes, etc. She was tested for FIV and the urine test was negative, so we are quite sure that she marks because she is upset with the one cat. We believe this problem will disappear in a home without other cats, as she will be less stressed and stop urinating outside the litter box. Dublin will thrive in a home with a safe outdoor area and the opportunity to go out when she wants. She is very eager to get out every time the foster mother opens the door, but fortunately she does not run far if she manages to sneak out. She comes back right away when the foster mother calls her. Dublin has had a health check and deworming, and she is microchipped, vaccinated and spayed. Animal Protection Norway Tromsø charges an adoption fee of 2000 kroner for all adult cats, which is less than half of what a private person would spend on veterinary expenses for microchipping, vaccination and spaying of a cat. The package price at the veterinary clinics in Tromsø for a male cat is about kr. 4000, while for a female cat you have to pay about kr. 6000. So you save a lot of money by getting a cat from Animal Protection! Interested people can contact via

About Dublin

What life with Dublin looks like

Dublin is a small adult mixed breed cat waiting at Dyrebeskyttelsen Norge Tromsø in Tromsø.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇴Adopting from Norway

Norwegian rescues require thorough background checks. Animals leave with a Nordic pet passport and full vetting. Norway is outside the EU so import rules differ slightly — TRACES applies.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dublin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dublin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dyrebeskyttelsen Norge Tromsø handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dublin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dublin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dyrebeskyttelsen Norge Tromsø will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dublin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dublin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dyrebeskyttelsen Norge Tromsø early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dublin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NO). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
