Duchesse (Einzelkatze)

Mixed Breed · Female · Kitten · 10 months

Duchesse (Single cat) Animal ID: 1593 At the animal shelter since 15.08.2026 Single cat! Duchesse is a very special cat - and in the truest sense of the word. As lovable, affectionate and people-oriented as she is, she is uncompromising towards other animals. Duchesse is a Scottish Fold mix and already shows the first signs of the so-called Scottish Fold disease (Osteochondrodysplasia - OCD). This is a hereditary malformation of cartilage and bone that can lead to altered joints, movement restrictions and pain in the further course. The first changes have already appeared in Duchesse, which is why her further development must be kept under veterinary supervision. However, she does not currently need painkillers. Unfortunately, her history is largely unknown - she was probably abandoned. At the time of her admission, she had an extremely developed mammary gland, which is why it can be assumed that she had kittens shortly before. It is likely that these were kept by the previous owners (the location of the find was searched extensively), while Duchesse was abandoned in the middle of the field. Now, a home is finally to be found for Duchesse that really suits her. And here is where her very special personality comes into play: she absolutely does not want to have anything to do with other animals. She attacks dogs massively and seriously. She has no fear of approaching a dog and attacking it.

Duchesse (Einzelkatze) Tier-ID: 1593 Im Tierheim seit 15.08.2026 Einzelkatze!

About Duchesse (Einzelkatze)

What life with Duchesse (Einzelkatze) looks like

Duchesse (Einzelkatze) is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Lippstadt und Umgebung e.V. in Germany.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Duchesse (Einzelkatze), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Duchesse (Einzelkatze)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Lippstadt und Umgebung e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Duchesse (Einzelkatze) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Duchesse (Einzelkatze) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Lippstadt und Umgebung e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Duchesse (Einzelkatze) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Duchesse (Einzelkatze) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Lippstadt und Umgebung e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Duchesse (Einzelkatze) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
