Dune

Mixed Breed · Female

Dune is a rescue dog, and we have limited information about her past, except that life hasn't always been easy for her. She is a gentle young female dog constantly seeking affection. She loves long walks and playing games. Dune is very attentive and obedient. She is clean and doesn't destroy things. She gets along well with other dogs, enjoys their company, and plays with her best friends for a long time. However, it is impossible to keep her with cats or small animals. Her predatory instinct is well developed, so it is not recommended to walk her without a leash. Dune will make a great companion for an active family who will take her on long walks. She will always be ready to please and willingly participate in agility classes, for example. She is a medium-sized dog, likely a mix of a herding dog and a Ratier, weighing around 15kg. Profile we are looking for: If you are interested in our lovely Dune and want to learn more, please contact us at 87. Please note, appointments only!

FR·Show original

About Dune

What life with Dune looks like

Dune is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at SPA Le Locle in Le Locle.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dune, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dune?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA Le Locle handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dune on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dune if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA Le Locle will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Dune already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dune isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA Le Locle early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dune and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
